Scholarship scheme

GFCA offers an annual scholarship, providing one actor or actor/director with a subsidised place on the 20-month Advanced Intensive Acting or Acting/Directing Diploma programme, providing the opportunity to train with our experienced team of leading acting coaches. If chosen, you will be awarded a scholarship for 50% of the standard course tuition-fee; and the option to spread the rest of the fees in monthly instalments.

GFCA is an independent not-for-profit organisation, and we do not have access to government subsidies. However we continue to explore new ways to reach out to and support talented individuals so they can access our training, irrespective of their financial or social background.

Scholarship - how to apply

Each year, scholarship applications open at 9 am on 1 January, and close on 6 July at midnight.

If you have applied before the deadline but haven't yet had your audition, you are welcome to submit a video-audition by the deadline, along with an email in support of your application.

If you have already auditioned for us either live or online, you only need to send us a confirmation email by the deadline, including your reasons for wishing to be considered.

Once we receive your additional email with the reasons for applying for the award, we may then ask you for some supporting documents, before deciding on the short-list. We may invite applicants to an extra audition, online or at the centre in London with Giles Foreman and other core tutors. The final decision is normally announced by 1 August..

Reflections

Richard Listor was the recipient of the first GFCA scholarship - he said:

“Being offered the Giles Foreman scholarship was massive. Before, I had all but written off the idea of intensive actor-training as something entirely inaccessible to me. Now I’ve had the opportunity to train with fantastic teachers, to get equipped and get prepared for life as a professional actor.”

Giles Foreman says:

“The scholarship scheme has been very successful, and it is our aim to offer opportunities each year in order to reach out to young actors, irrespective of their personal circumstance or location. We are a self-funded institution, but we’re very aware that incredibly talented actors could slip through the net due to limited personal means.

We hope that the scholarship scheme can enable an individual from any background to apply.”
